Frequently Asked Questions:
What happens when my MacBook Air is damaged?
If your laptop is in need of repair, please visit the LHWHS Help Desk located in the library. We will provide support and diagnose the issues you're having with your computer. If repairs are needed, you will be provided a Chromebook loaner during the repair duration. Remember, for the 2021-2022 school year, there will be $40 damage waiver that will be charged for every student. This payment will cover the repair costs for possible laptop incidents throughout the school year, including:
• Accidental Damage - Liquid Spills - Drops/Cracked Screens
• Theft
• Fire - Flood - Natural disasters
• Power surge due to lightning
(*Intentional damage is not covered under this waiver and will result in the full cost of repair or replacement)
If I have my own laptop and prefer using it, do I HAVE to use the school issued MacBook Air?
Yes, we require that you use the Ladue issued MacBook Air. To keep our network secure as well as ensure that all the appropriate software and e-textbook licensing is accurate, students should only use the school issued MacBook Air.
What are our acceptable use policies for technology at LHWHS?
•EHB: Technology Usage-Board Policy
•EHB-AP: Technology Usage (Technology Safety) Administrative Procedure
•Acceptable Usage Agreement Highlights can be viewed here.
Is the school issued laptop protected and filtered even on my home network(WIFI)?
Yes. Whether students are on or off school premises, all student Internet traffic will be logged and filtered through the District's content filter. We will be utilizing a device management suite called Filewave. It allows us to register each student’s laptop to our server, so we can control the settings of the device, apply rules, remotely lock/wipe and send software updates.
If I take my protective case off my laptop, can it be taken away?
Yes. Anytime a student is seen with their laptop not in its protective case, the laptop will be taken and held at the Tech Department until that student brings back the protective case, to be placed back on the school's laptop.
